    Job Summary

    The Design Manager will be responsible for day-to-day client account contact, ensuring that they are profitable and growing. The Design Manager will take responsibility for delivery of quality service that meets the client’s needs and addresses their business problems and must champion our work. They will do so through the effective management of the team, and their ability to work with others inside and outside Portland.

    Overall Responsibilities:

    • Supporting the Portland leadership team; assist with leading client accounts within Portland, with shared responsibility for the client relationship.

    • Working with the team to interrogate client briefs, by challenging and asking questions.

    • Supporting the Associate Principal and Senior Associate in the delivery of excellent service and outputs.

    • Ensuring the profitability and growth of client accounts.

    • Managing the work and performance of client accounts.

    • Reporting key financial and team data to the Portland and P+W senior leadership, finance and human resources departments.

    Working With:

    • Internal: Portland management/leadership team; Portland team, including planners/strategists; Creative teams and Directors; Creative services and production staff; New business team; Human resources; Finance/Accounts.

    • External: Client marketing team, including Marketing Director; Client procurement personnel; Other agencies in their client's roster e.g. Media, Public Relations; Regulatory bodies;

    • Account Managers will report to the senior management team of Portland, usually The Principal, Associate Principal and Senior Associate. They will also report to the Portland and P+W Finance team on account profitability and opportunities.

    Job Summary

    The Senior Designer will work closely with Client Teams to create exciting places to visit, both in placement and the vibrant, compelling uses. The Senior Designer is a Team Leader in charge of delivering reports, with close support from the master planning management.

    Overall Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver the Scope as detailed in the fee proposal (and later, help write the scopes).

    • Resource/ time management, plus hands-on production of work.

    • Strategy development for the retail neighborhood characters (aspirational waterside dining / wellbeing park entertainment etc.) and integrating research and conceptual thinking into planning diagrams that inform external Architectural Team masterplans.

    • Attending Client & Subconsultant meetings. Running, presenting, and developing the project. Briefing specialists and managing outputs.

    • Documentation and presentations. In charge of the team’s production of information, organisation of the Project File and review processes.

    Requirements and skills:

    Job Summary

    The Mid-Weight Designer’s role is to support lead designer in interpreting and implement the creative vision across a broad range of projects ranging from digital, social, print, environmental design. The Mid-Weight Designer will be highly creative and conceptual with excellent skills in typography, branding & digital design & identity creation, and skilled within the full Adobe Creative Suite.

    Overall Responsibilities:

    • Creation of digital design and assets for use on website and social media platforms.

    • To maintain the high visual standard Portland sets and assist others in maintaining this standard.

    • Creation of unique designs and suites of brand assets

    • Creation of digital design and assets for use on website and social media platforms

    • Creative concepts, development and integrating research and conceptual thinking into presentation decks.

    • Documentation and presentations. In charge of the team’s production of information.

    • Ability to create original concepts from client brief / assist others in same.

    • Produce concept work using hand sketches or computer software to a professional standard.

    Job Summary

    The Intermediate (Midweight) Designer will work closely with teams, supporting the provision of research, design and delivery of strategies for making exciting neighborhoods.

    Overall Responsibilities:

    • Retail activation inputs into masterplan overlay and user-researched presentation material.

    • Planning diagrams for sustainable size and placement of commercial space and use-recommendations that are designed around the identified needs or differing user types.

    • Research into what people want to visit: the latest/ most successful retail centers, entertainment and leasure concepts, cultural uses and events, and how versions of these concepts can enrich our schemes.

    • Documentation with diagrammatic information on principles and illustrative benchmarking that helps inform the Client’s planning and elevational drawings.

    • Creation of conceptual diagrams with accompanying text that distils ideas into key bullet-points.

    • Public realm activation of shop-spill-out and delivery programming lists for event spaces.

    • Creation of Powerpoint and Indesign documents.

    • Contribution to studio culture (how we think, work and play).

    Requirements and skills:

    • Accomplished & creative all-rounder from research to visualization to detailing.

    • Cross-sector experience in the following a must: Retail/F&B/Brand Experience.

    • Comfortable with Retail Strategy / Customer Journey Design.
